Marienplatz
Munich's main square is framed by the New Town Hall, whose tower has the famous clock with figures that dance at set times of day. Come a little early to get a good spot.
The Frauenkirche
The two towers with rounded domes, the Frauenkirche, are the symbol of the city and can be seen from almost anywhere in the centre.
The Viktualienmarkt
Just behind the square is the Viktualienmarkt, with stalls of fruit, cheese and sausages and a beer garden under the trees. A good place for a break and a snack.
The English Garden
Finish your walk in the English Garden, one of the largest city parks in Europe. At the entrance to the park you can watch surfers riding a standing wave on the stream that runs through the city.
