Every June Kiel Week takes place, the largest sailing event in the world, with regattas, concerts and stalls along the waterfront.

The Kiel Canal

The canal linking the North Sea and the Baltic is the busiest artificial waterway in the world. At the locks in Holtenau you can see the ships up close.

Laboe

In Laboe near Kiel there is a beach, a tall naval memorial with a viewing platform and a Second World War submarine you can go inside.
