The old town hall
Bamberg's best-known sight is the old town hall, built on a tiny island in the middle of the river Regnitz, with a facade covered in painted murals. Bridges lead to it from both sides, and the view from them is why everyone stops here.
The cathedral hill
Like Rome, Bamberg was built on seven hills. On one of them stands the four-towered cathedral, with a square in front offering a view over the rooftops.
Little Venice
Along the river runs a row of old fishermen's houses with tiny gardens right on the water. This part of town is called Little Venice and is best seen from the opposite bank.
Smoked beer
Bamberg is famous for beer with a smoky flavour, brewed here for centuries. Even if you are not a beer lover, it is worth trying in one of the old brewery taverns.
